William Henry Nordt's Obituary
Funeral services for William H. (Bill) Nordt, 93, of Rosenberg and life-long resident of
Fort Bend County will be held at 2 PM Friday, February 7, 2014 at Hope Lutheran Church, 7316 Ave C, Beasley, TX. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Rosenberg, TX. Pastor John Willman will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX.
Bill was born September 29, 1920 on his family's farm near Beasley and went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 with his family present in his home on that same farm. Bill was a decorated veteran of World War II serving his country as S/Sgt with the 265th Field Artillery Battalion, Battery A, which fought in the European Theater. Sadly, we have lost another hero of the Greatest Generation.
After the War, Bill married Viola Meyer of Damon, Texas and he resumed his career of farming and ranching. He continued to help manage his farm with advice, guidance, and decisions until his death. He enjoyed hunting, firearms, raising cattle, and above all, sharing with his family, the freedom, peace and joy of farm and ranch life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola and parents Ernest H. and Emilie Bockhorn Nordt. He is survived by daughter, Marion Nordt Jozwiak and husband, Don; his son Marvin L. (Buddy) Nordt and wife, Shirley; son, Billy C. Nordt; grandsons, Travis Nordt and wife, Megan; Taylor, Joshua, and William (Will) Nordt; and great-grandson Noah Nordt. All are of Rosenberg.
A special thanks to caretaker Sharron Lindermann for her loving care with the assistance of her husband, David and to Joe Hochman with Hospice of Houston-El Campo branch.
Pallbearers will be Travis Nordt, Joshua Nordt, Taylor Nordt, Will Nordt, Eugene Nordt, and Randy Meeks.
Memorials may be made to: Wounded Warrior Project; P.O. Box 758517; Topeka, Kansas 66675.
