Wanda Rae Chachere Graves' Obituary
Funeral Services for Wanda Rae Graves, 80, of Richmond, TX, will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church, 4111 Airport Avenue, Rosenberg, TX 77471, with Dr. Jason Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Davis-Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
Visitation will be 5 - 7:00 PM Monday, October 26, 2015, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471.
Wanda Rae Graves went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, October 24, 2015. Following a courageous and lengthy battle with scleraderma, Wanda peacefully died, surrounded by her family. Wanda was born on April 23, 1935, to Alma Margaret and Raymond George Chachere in Orchard, Texas. She graduated from Orchard High School and from Sam Houston State University. While teaching school in League City, Texas, Wanda met her beloved husband of 55 years, Gail West Graves. Wanda and Gail have been residents of Richmond, Texas, for 47 years. Wanda loved spending time with her five grandchildren. They treasure memories of "Neeny" reading out loud to them, singing to them about Jesus, and preparing their favorite foods for them. Wanda was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for 42 years.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Raymond Chachere, and her brothers, Milton Chachere and Raymond Don Chachere. She is survived by her husband Gail, her daughter Karen (Keith) Stafford, her son Ronald Graves, grandchildren, Raymond (Lauren) Stafford, Dylan Stafford, Shelby Stafford, Justin Stafford and Jesse Stafford, her sister Betty (Omer) Poorman, brother L.J. (Jon) Chachere, and her sister-in-law, Kathy Fry.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Facility Improvement Campaign at Calvary Baptist Church, 4111 Airport Avenue, Rosenberg, TX 77471.
