Obituary

Walter Charles Meyer, Jr. passed away on September 11, 2022, in Richmond, TX at the age of 90. Walter, "Buddy", was born May 28, 1932, in Beasley, TX, to the late Walter Charles Meyer, Sr. and Mathilda Jenny Schendel Meyer. He was their second child; his sister, Ida Mae Meyer Anderson, was 9 years older and none too happy to be usurped as an only child.
Walter attended Lamar Consolidated High School, Wharton County Junior College and Texas Tech University. He also served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. While attending Texas Tech in Lubbock, he met his wife, Norma Jean Acker. They were married in 1961, and she passed away in 1996. They lived in Houston where their 2 children were born, and then were transferred to Los Angeles, CA for 2 years as part of Walter's position in IT with Charter Oil. They returned to Texas in 1970, living in Alief and Missouri City. Walter moved to Richmond in 2014. He also made frequent trips to his home in Llano, TX, enjoying tending to his property and feeding the deer.
Walter is survived by his daughter Carla Meyer Wickoff and son-in-law Kelly Wickoff of Oak Run, CA; his son Mark Meyer and Mark's children, Macy and Major, of Cypress, TX.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped and cared for Walter in the final months of his life.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471 . A time of Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 3:00 PM on Wednesday, for one hour preceding the memorial service.
