Virginia Elkins Barrios Ashford, 96, passed away peacefully August 25, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 22, 1917, in Rosenberg, Texas, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ira Arthur Elkins. She was a longtime resident of Orchard, Texas on Moore's Prairie, and truly had a long, wonderful life. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Kenneth "Pete" Barrios, her second husband Ralph Ashford, and her beloved son Marc Barrios.



Virginia is survived by her grandchildren Randy Barrios of Baytown, Kari Sager and her husband Benny, and Becky McManus and her husband Marshall, all of Mont Belvieu, Texas. Sabina DeBord of Highland Village, Sarah Olle and husband Mike of Schulenburg, Noah Collins of Brazoria, Leah Murphy of Richmond, Andrew Collins and wife Linda of Quinlan, John Collins and wife Lesa of Highland Village. Great-grandchildren: Lane, Mallory, and Chris Barrios; Tyler, Kyle, and Emily Sager; Morgan, Mason, and Matthew McManus all of Mont Belvieu, Texas. Great great grandchildren are RJ, Cyrus and Benjamin. Virginia also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, including Jerome Novasad, to cherish her memory.



The family will receive friends from 10 am - 11 am Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, Rosenberg, TX 77471, with funeral services to begin at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Davis-Greenlawn Cemetery, Rosenberg, TX.
