Mickey grew up in Douglass, Texas, just outside of Nacogdoches, during the Depression. She was a true East Texas beauty who exemplified hard work, sacrifice, and unconditional love throughout her entire life.
She married the love of her life, Jodie, in 1958 and spent the next 54 years as a devoted, loving, and caring wife and mother. Their life together moved them from Houston to New Braunfels, to Austin and back to Houston in 1968 where they settled in the Spring Branch area. She kept life simple and truly understood and cherished her role as a wife and mother. She was well known for her grace and generosity, her courage and positive outlook on life, her ability to make anyone feel at home, and her amazing home cooking. She loved fishing, gardening, working crosswords, rooting for Houston sports teams, her Bloody Marys, and a good laugh. She was truly an angel on earth.
A service will be held in her memory at the Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond, TX on Saturday, December 16th, 2017, at 10:30 AM followed, by a graveside memorial service at the Morton Cemetery, Richmond, TX.
