Funeral services for Velma Maye Hubby Bernard, 79, of Richmond, TX are set for 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at First Baptist Church Rosenberg, 1117 1 ^st Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471 with Dr. John Reid and Rev. Roger Rodriguez officiating.

A time of visitation will be from 5-7PM Tuesday May 8, 2018 at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Bonham, Patrick Bernard, Phillip Bernard, William Bernard, Michael Bernard and Edward Bernard.

Velma Maye Bernard was born November 4, 1938 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Velton and Eva Grimes Hubby. She died May 4, 2018 in Richmond, Texas.

She was a graduate of Pasadena High School, Pasadena, TX. Velma was an active member of First Baptist Church, Rosenberg, TX and she loved gardening, sewing and playing bingo.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents Velton and Eva Hubby. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Forrest Bernard; children, Susan Benaway and husband Brian of Glendale, AZ, Forrest Bernard, Jr. of Aberdeen Scotland, Patrick Bernard and wife Diane of Pearland, TX, William Bernard and wife Debbie of Jacksonville, TX, Eileen Kelley and husband Alan of Sugar Land, TX, Phillip Bernard and wife Janice of Friendswood, TX, Michael Bernard and wife Katrina of Anna, TX, Carol Bernard of Rosenberg, TX, Edward Bernard and wife Annie of Boise, Idaho; brothers, John Hubby of The Woodlands, TX, Earl Hubby of Livingston, TX; sisters, Joann Gibson of Pawhuska, OK, Jane Jeffries of Glendale, AZ; 23 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
