Obituary

Tommie Nell Thomas , of Needville, TX, was born on January 5, 1937, in Chapel Hill, TX, to Johnnie Thomas and Catherine Eldridge (Pennye).

Tommie was the first son born to this union. Tommie was raised in the Fort Bend County area and attended school at William Routt and N.A. Allen in Needville, TX, up to the eighth grade.

Tommie believed in and accepted Christ at an early age.

Tommie later left home to go to work with his late brother-in-law, Robert Linsey, in Rosenberg, TX, where he learned to butcher.

On January 12, 1964, he wed to Dorothy Smith Thomas, to which he later divorced; to this union six children were born.

Tommie continued to work in the Rosenberg area. He worked at the Lamar School District for two years in the janitorial department, but decided to go back to butchering. He worked at Zero's in Rosenberg, Ladd's in Needville, Bay City Packing House in Bay City, and Kovasovic's Meat Center in East Bernard, where he later retired after many years of service.

Tommie enjoyed playing his guitar, listening to B.B. King, fishing, cutting the grass, watching the rodeo on TV, talking with family and friends, and making others laugh (as well as himself) sitting on his porch.

Tommie is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Thomas and Catherine Nix, sister Sue Linsey, brother-in-law Robert Linsey, brother-in-law Elvie Brown, Sr., sister-in-law Earlene Thomas, and son-in-law Michael Davis.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his siblings Bonnie Wayne Thomas, Ora Lee Daniels, Indie Brown, Laura York, and Catherine York.

His children Catherine Pettit (Kenneth), Fred Thomas, Dorothy Davis, Chris Thomas, Gracie Thomas, and Josephine Green (Wesley).

His granddaughters Bassaney Mcallister (Richard), Danshel Godfrey, Megan Thomas, and Carlyn Brown.

His great grandchildren Shamauri Davis, Aubrey and Demetrice Mcallister Zhream, D'mossiyo Walters, Karmen Taylor, Davton Walters, and Richard Mcallister, Jr.

His special niece Gloria Daniels.
