Shirley Lynn
Shilts
Jul 6, 1947 — May 6, 2023
Sugar Land
Shirley Lynn Eihusen Shilts, 75, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who passed away on May 6, 2023, due to complications stemming from previous health conditions.
She was born on July 6, 1947, in Hildreth, Nebraska to Benard and Ida Eihusen and spent most of her formative years in Minden, Nebraska. She moved to Lincoln and then met and married the love of her life, Jim Shilts, on December 28, 1969, and would have celebrated 54 years of marriage this year.
Together they had 3 children, but her passion for caring for others went beyond her own family. Shirley spent much of her life as an in-home childcare provider acting as a loving caregiver to dozens of children throughout the years. She was active in local and state politics as a representative of the childcare industry helping to define and guide policy in the best interests of children. Her heart knew no boundaries when it came to caring for others and the needs of everyone throughout her life.
Shirley is survived by husband Jim; a daughter Laura; two sons Mike and James (Shawna); two brothers Laurel (Sara) and John (Karen); 3 grandchildren Jimmie, Haley, and Barrett, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father Ben, her mother Ida, and a brother Bernie.
A Funeral Service for Shirley will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land, 502 Eldridge Road, Sugar Land, TX 77478, after which she will be laid to rest at Davis Greenlawn Cemetery in Rosenberg, Texas 77471.
Visitation will be 9 - 10 AM Saturday morning at the church, for one hour preceding the Funeral Service.
