A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 9:30 AM until funeral time at 11:00 AM at Thibodaux Funeral Home (104 St. Patrick Highway, Thibodaux, LA 70301), honoring the life of Richard Henry Charitat, 67, who passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at his residence in Richmond, Texas.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

Richard was born October 14, 1956, in San Antonio, TX, to Raymond Henry Charitat and Marian Bourgeois Charitat. He was a native of Victoria, Texas. He was a 1974 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Victoria, Texas, attended USL in Lafayette, Louisiana, and graduated in surveying from T.H. Harris Trade School in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was currently working for Cobalt Engineering and Inspections in Houston, Texas.

He is survived by his sister, Laura Charitat Stelly of Broussard, Louisiana; nephews Ryan (Kellie) Stelly of Central, Louisiana, and Andre Stelly of Youngsville, Louisiana; and a niece, Allison Stelly of Broussard, Louisiana.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Marian Bourgeois Charitat; his father, Raymond Henry Charitat, and one brother-in-law, Elmore James "EJ" Stelly.
