Obituary

Raymond Daniel Krejci

1949-2020

Raymond Daniel Krejci, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went to his heavenly home on March 15, 2020, after a lengthy battle with heart disease, kidney disease, and diabetes.

Ray, or RD as he was known in his younger years, was born in Rosenberg, the oldest son to George and Florence Krejci. As a young man, he enjoyed caring for and showing animals, and was an enthusiastic student, particularly in History and writing, and he enjoyed participating in theater and journalism. He graduated from Needville High School and attended Wharton County Junior College and the University of Houston.

While in college, Ray met Ranelle Schultz on a blind date. They were married in 1971 and lived and raised their family in Richmond. He worked for Sperry Sun in Sugarland, Texas, prior to opening Chem Dry Fort Bend, which he and Ranelle owned and operated for over 30 years.

He was a lover of all things history and was a remarkable source of information for all who were interested. He often referred to himself as a "jack of all trades, master of none," and he loved tinkering in his garage and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed building sets and stage managing for his daughters' theatrical productions, and he also enjoyed planting in his garden. Monthly dinners with his brother and sister were a joy to him. He loved fishing and hunting and enjoyed any time he could spend outdoors, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Krejci and in-laws Emmit and Maurine Schultz, along with granddaughters Emma and Hannah McBride. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ranelle Schultz Krejci, daughters Heather McBride and husband Caley, Mandy Casey and husband Collin, and Dani Hendrick and husband John. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren Reese McBride, Jack and Will Casey, and Gwen Hendrick. Also survived and loved by Raymond are his brother George Krejci of Needville, Kathy Taylor of Damon, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family extends thanks and gratitude to Dr. Ivan Mefford, Dr. Russell Brink, and Dr. Michele Sartori. Special thanks to Fresenius Kidney Care, Sugarland campus, for their unwavering support, especially Phyllis and Erica.
