Visitation will be Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471.

Mrs. Behrens passed away Monday, September 16, 2013, at Oak Bend Medical Center in Richmond, Texas. She was born on January 31, 1929, in Welcome, TX, the 12th of 14 children, to the late Fred and Emma (Busse) Enax.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Sikes and husband Ron of Rosenberg, and Nancy Urbanek and husband Dale of Needville; her four grandsons, Jason Sikes, Kevin Urbanek and wife Diane, Russell Sikes and wife Melody, and Phillip Urbanek and wife Jamie; and her 3 great-grandchildren, Jaxson Dale Urbanek, Jace Joseph Urbanek, and Sophia Grace Sikes. Mrs. Behrens is also survived by four of her sisters, Elvera Herman, Rosa Bolte, Nelda Gutowsky and husband Alvin, and Florence Gaskamp; and 3 sisters-in-law, Emma Lee Enax Marek, Grace Enax, and Viola Behrens Sojourner, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Barney E. Behrens (1999), 5 brothers John, Herbert, Bennie, Ed, and Alfred (Jiggs) Enax and 4 sisters, Edna Browdy, Hildagarde Stengrim, Minnie Klaus, and Ella Mae Hacker.

Pearlie moved to Beasley with her family at the age of 8, attended school in Beasley and graduated from Beasley High School. She married "her best boyfriend" Barney Behrens in 1949. They lived and worked together for almost fifty years. Whether by his side at Behrens Brothers Grocery, doing the duties of a farmer's wife, or raising their daughters, she and Barney were true partners in life.

She went to work "in town" at Gulf Coast Savings and Loan in 1962 and enjoyed her career for thirty years. Her last place of employment, and one that she truly enjoyed, was lunchroom monitor at Beasley Elementary School where she was known as Ms. Pearlie to many children. In 2005 she moved to Richmond to share a residence with her sister Rosa. Pearlie loved to bake cookies and make jelly but her specialty was divinity candy. Her greatest joy was being GaGa, first to Jason, Kevin, RD, and Phillip, then to Diane, Jamie, and Melody, and especially to Jaxson, Jace and Sophia.

Pall bearers include Ron Gutowsky, Tom Gaskamp, Darwin Enax, Mike Enax, Mark Enax, Jeff Janecek, Jonathan Sabrsula, and Tim Sabrsula.
