Funeral services for Nelda Ruth Steffen Rosenbaum, age 97, of Needville, Texas, are scheduled for 11 am Monday, October 16, 2017, with visitation from 9:30 am to the commencement of services. The service will be held at Immanuel Evangelical Church, 9018 Church St, Needville, TX 77461.



Nelda died October 9, 2017, in Needville, TX. She was born July 9, 1920, in Needville, TX, to Charles W. and Adeline Oberrender Steffen.



Nelda Rosenbaum was a compassionate and loving mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family, and especially loved to cook and bake for them. The smell of baked goods could always be expected in her home. She enjoyed gardening, and had a yard full of colorful aromatic flowers and roses. Nelda's house was a place where those who were lucky to know her were always welcome for coffee, lunch and a friendly visit. Her grandchildren were always welcome to sit and craft or play games with her, and be treated to something sweet.



Besides her family, she had a heart for others. She volunteered many hours at nursing homes. Nelda was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Church in Needville, TX, and served on the Women's Guild. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to this wonderful organization.



Nelda is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Adeline Steffen; her husband, Helmuth Rosenbaum; her son, Donald Rosenbaum; her brothers, Albert and wife Lillie Steffen and Milton Steffen (Sam) and Ruth.



Nelda is survived by Jo Carol Kastner, mother of Denise Moore, husband Bill, and Mark Kastner; also by her son, Allen Rosenbaum and wife, Beryl, and their children and grandchildren: Brandon Rosenbaum, wife Kelly, and children Alex and Reese. Angie Ames, husband Scott, and children Stephanie, Avery, and Kelsey. Myra Barone, husband Matt, and children Mason, Leah and Miles. Eric Rosenbaum, wife Beth, and children Carter, Celia and Lydia. Nelda is also survived by her son Dean Rosenbaum, and his son Robert Rosenbaum, wife Deeanna and their children Cavan, Cassie, Bryce and Byron. A host of nieces and nephews and church friends, with a special mention to her niece Shirley and husband John Horak, as well as special friend and neighbor, Anne Chambers.


The family thanks Reliable Oaks Assisted Living, and her hospice care staff.



Nelda had a strong faith in the Lord, and was ready to be home.
