Michael Edward Mangel was called home to Our Lord and Savior on January 7, 2021.

He was born on December 25, 1961 in Houston, Texas, to the late Joseph Fredrick Mangel Sr. and Helen Agnes Mangel. Michael graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. He worked in management at Ryan's Family Steakhouse and Lane Equipment Company. He had a passion for history, politics, basketball, and reading. He loved his University of Houston Cougars, Houston Oilers and Astros.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents Helen and Joseph Mangel Sr., as well as one sister, Elizabeth Mangel. He is survived by the love of his life, Rhonda Mangel, and three sons, Michael Anthony Mangel and wife Shelley (Lubbock), Andrew Mangel (Rosenberg), and Daniel Mangel (Richmond). He is also survived by his brothers, Joseph Mangel Jr. (Richmond), John Mangel (Richmond), Dave Mangel (Fulshear), Steven Mangel (Fulshear), and Jerry Mangel (Rosenberg), and sister, Pauline Maxwell (Richmond). Mike is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 507 S. 4th Street, Richmond, Texas 77469 . The Visitation will begin at 9 AM, followed by the Rosary at 9:30 AM and the Funeral Service at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Morton Cemetery, Richmond, TX.

Pallbearers are Jim Maxwell, Sean Mangel, Patrick Kacer, Joey Kacer, Steven Garcia, William Wallace and Adam Garcia.

The family asks in lieu of arrangements that donations would be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, M.D. Anderson, or a charity of your choice.
