Obituary

Mary Helen Fraser Brown passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday morning, September 19, 2024. Mary was born in Huntsville, Texas, to Shiles Moore Fraser and Annie (Brown) Fraser on May 1, 1929.

She spent most of her childhood at the family farm in Huntsville, Texas, but due to the WWII national demands and effort, the family spent several years in Deer Park. After the War ended the family was able to return to the family farm.

On August 27, 1948, Mary graduated from Sam Houston State University. She began her teaching career at the age of 19 in Rosenberg, Texas. Wayne D. Brown was in her first fourth grade class at Robert E. Lee Elementary. He introduced her to his big brother, Mack Neil Brown, and they were married October 1, 1949. She followed Mack's employment around Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma, returning to Rosenberg in 1969. Mary enjoyed a 34-year teaching career at the Elementary Grade Levels wherever she lived, ending her career where she began - in Rosenberg LCISD. Teaching children in all the various churches she attended was always a priority. Mary enjoyed her Church Family at First Baptist Church in Rosenberg for over 56 years, where she was so faithful. Mary and Mack's hobbies during retirement included traveling in their RV, JOY Club and their trips with her church family, and spending time with family and friends playing 42 and card games. Mary became an avid reader and loved reading and listening to God's Word and hymns. With the help of her family, she was able to live independently in her own home until March, where she had friends in weekly to play Skipbo. On Sundays her son Lynn and wife Xiaoming brought lunch and stayed to play Skipbo with her. Both were a highlight of her week in her later years. She treasured the time spent with her family, which included her 3 sons and daughters- in-law, 12 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty years, Mack Neil Brown, on September 9, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Shiles Moore Fraser and Annie Lee Brown Fraser, and four sisters, Virginia Fraser, Margaret Fraser Hubbell (F.E.
