Funeral services for Marvin J. Hurta, 90, of Needville, TX, are set for 10 AM Thursday, March 2, 2017, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 9214 Main Street, Needville, TX 77461, with burial following in Needville Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 PM Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 3103 School Street, Needville, TX 77461.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Terry Foss, Kenny Mikel, Dean Hurta, Russell Hurta, Greg Pavlas, Tim Novosad, Jason Henke, and Tony Novosad.
He was born Marvin Johnnie Hurta on April 1, 1926, in Needville, TX, to John Hurta and Fannie Teykl Hurta. He died February 27, 2017, in Sugar Land, TX. Marvin graduated from Richmond High School in 1944. Because of the untimely death of his father, as a young man Marvin took over the responsibilities of the farm and family. He married Julia Seidl 62 years ago, and together they enjoyed gardening, Czech music, and travelling. They especially enjoyed their trips to the Czech Republic. Marvin retired after working over 30 years at United Gas Co.
His parents preceded him in death, as well as his brother, Allen Hurta, and two sisters, Lorene Novosad and Gloria Pavlas. Survivors include his loving wife, Julia (Judy) Hurta, of Needville, TX; 3 sons, James Hurta and wife Wendy of New Gulf, TX, Ronald Hurta and wife, Melanie of Needville, TX, and Brian Hurta and wife, Sarka of Richmond, TX; 7 grandchildren, Amanda Hurta, Shana Mosley, Jennifer Osborne and husband, Rob, Valerie Hurta, Thomas Hurta, Lillian Hurta, and Abigail Hurta; 3 great grandchildren, Bella Osborne, Alanna Osborne, and Korbin Salas; 2 sisters, Viola Foss and Dorothy Mikel; 2 brothers, Johnnie Hurta and wife, Sue, and Danny Hurta and wife, Irene; 2 brothers-in-law, Dan Pavlas and Gene Seidl and wife, Margie; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials may be given in his memory to St Michael's Catholic Church, 9214 Main Street, Needville, TX 77461, or to Fort Bend Seniors - Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1488, Rosenberg, TX 77471-0488.
