Lorene M. Requardt Engeling 89, of Needville, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2018. She was born on May 11, 1929 to Henry and Caroline Roehe Requardt of Beasley, TX.

Lorene was a graduate of Beasley High School in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart, Wilfred "Bill" Engeling on October 27, 1949. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.

Lorene not only enjoyed baking wedding cakes with her sister, LaVan, for many years, but cooking huge meals, especially on Sundays, for her family and friends. In her later years, when cooking was too difficult for her, you could find her and her family every Sunday at Schulze Family Restaurant.

Lorene loved raising her six children and helping with her eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren plus many others she cared for over the years. She supported them in their many activities, such as sports and rodeos.

Lorene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant daughter Sandra Jean and brother Larry Requardt.

Lorene is survived by her children, Richard Engeling and wife Karen, Patsy Kitchens and husband George, Brenda MacGuigan and husband Patrick, Karen Lightfoot and husband Doug, Melissa Rhodes and husband Curtis, Billy Engeling and wife Dawn; grandchildren, Jimmy Kitchens and Shannon, Greg Kitchens and wife Sheryl, Kristen Seay and husband Jeremy, Daniel Lightfoot and wife Brandy, Kevin Lightfoot and wife Heather, Cydney Taylor and husband Cory, Kaitlan Rhodes, Jacob Rhodes; 15 great grandchildren; sister LaVan Feldoff; brother Lee Requardt and wife Rosie. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Pallbearers will include Jimmy Kitchens, Greg Kitchens, Daniel Lightfoot, Kevin Lightfoot, Jacob Rhodes, Jeremy Seay and Cory Taylor.

Lorene's family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at SPJST Nursing Home of Needville and AMED Hospice for the wonderful treatment she received while in their care.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 6 pm - 8 pm at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 3103 School Street, Needville, TX 77461. Services will be held 10:00 am Friday, July 20, 2018, at Hope Lutheran Church, 7302 Ave C, Beasley, TX 77417. Burial will follow in Friedens United Church of Christ Cemetery, Beasley, TX.
