Obituary

Lee Denny Morgan, 97, of Needville, TX, entered into his eternal home on October 28, 2024, at OakBend Medical Center Hospital with his two eldest granddaughters, grandson-in-law, and close loved ones by his side.

Lee D. Morgan was born September 22,1927, in Katy, TX, to Edward "Ned" Reeves Morgan and Edith Pearl Denny Morgan. He was the middle of the 3 "Morgan Brothers". He loved to share his stories and fond memories of the endless antics and fun that he had growing up on the Katy Prairie with his oldest brother "Billy" and youngest brother "Cotton". Some of his fun stories often included his dad "Ned", like when times were hard and they all worked together to harvest ducks to go sell in Houston, and they would keep them cleverly hidden in the pond, because the game warden liked to pop in.

Denny proudly enlisted and served his country in the Army Air Forces; he was stationed in Greenland, and he loved to tell stories of his time there.

Lee D. Morgan married the love of his life (who he loved since the very first time he saw her in the schoolhouse when they were just 12 and 13 years old) on February 27, 1948, and were blessed with 70 beautiful years together.

Denny was a simple man who lived a simple life; he worked hard and loved his family even harder. He was a strong and devoted husband, father, grandad and great grandad. He worked hard his entire life to provide for his family and loved his years of work in the gas industry.

If you ever visited with him you knew he was one heck of a storyteller, with a memory that would put most people half his age to shame. If you forgot, he'd be there to tell you every detail or fact no matter what it was.

He was a a man of great dignity and integrity, a man who believed your word was all you truly had in this world. He enjoyed cooking and hooking up the travel trailer and hitting the road with his true love to go see the colors change or snow in the mountains.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Edith Morgan, brothers William "Billy" Morgan and Lawrence "Cotton" Morgan, beloved daughter Bunny Morgan, and the love of his life Mona Ruth Morgan.

He is survived by son Lee Morgan II, grandsons Landon and Clint Morgan; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Amanda and Dustin Frankum, granddaughters Lindsey Shimek, Autumn Isleib; great grandchildren Brody, Coy, and Brant Frankum, and Delaney Shimek. He leaves behind many beloved family, friends, and neighbors.

A private family Graveside Service will be held at the Needville Public Cemetery in Needville, TX, to lay him to rest.

Memorials may be given in his memory to Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675 or online at support.woundedwarriorproject.org
