Lance Nolan Khan
March 19, 2003 – June 15, 2025
Lance Nolan Khan, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend and teammate, has gone to be with his Lord and Savior. He passed away unexpectedly in an accident on Sunday, June15, 2025. Lance was born to Michelle and Romail Khan on March 19, 2003, in Houston, TX. He was a senior at the University of St. Thomas and was in the process of completing a Master's in Business and Finance and a current member of their baseball team. Lance was looking forward to another season with the Celts this spring.
Lance is survived by his loving parents, Michelle and Romail Khan; his beloved brothers Grant Khan and wife, Selena, Pierce Khan, and Avery Khan; grandfather Raymond Ruane; uncles Jackie Lopez, Michael Goode, Tommy Ruane, Mike Ruane, Alex Khan, Rohail Khan; aunts Riffi Strawn and husband, Jim Strawn, Talat Khan, and Nicky Khan; and cousins Lanell Lopez, Mackenzie Chavez, Michael Goode, Nathaniel Goode and wife, Alexis, Shash Moses, Ernie Moses and wife, Becky, and Rajesh Moses.
Lance is preceded in death by his cherished grandmother Maclovia "Mackey" Ruane and grandparents Alfred and Violet Khan; along with his uncles Richard Lee Lopez and Max Michael Lannin.
Lance loved the Lord with all his heart and shared his faith through kindness and trust in God's plan. At 20 years old, he publicly professed his faith in Christ by baptism. Throughout his grueling three-year battle with cancer, his trust in the Lord was unwavering. In those three years, Lance completed one nasty cancer hurdle after another with courage and a smile. He fought with incredible strength and determination, and he was finally declared cancer free last year.
Lance had a huge heart and was humble and kind to everyone. He had immense love for his family, friends and teammates, and he was equally loved by them. He was everyone's best friend. All those he encountered were drawn to his zest and passion for life. His radiant smile lit up every room and dugout. Lance was also a jokester and had a knack for making people laugh. His love for life and people will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Lance was practically born with a baseball in his hand and developed a deep love for the game from his three older brothers. He spent a large part of his 22 years at the baseball fields and instinctively became a great teammate and a coach's dream. He showed up every day with an infectious smile and positive attitude and a deep-seated love for the game, his coaches and his teammates. Lance excelled at baseball and played at all levels. He was an All-Star every year for Lamar Little League and played every position. His select teams were the Lobos, Prime Time, Houston A's and Twelve. Lance was a 2021 graduate of Travis High School and played an integral part in the Tigers' 2021 District 20-6A Championship. He was currently a middle-infielder for the University of St. Thomas. Those that have coached and played with Lance know he is a selfless teammate and by far, one of the hardest workers. He had the most positive and encouraging voice in the dugout and on the field. Those that have played against Lance know that behind that mega-watt smile and charming personality was a gritty, fierce competitor.
As much as Lance loved baseball, along with fishing with his brothers and friends, being a great player was not his ultimate goal in life. He wanted to be a faithful follower of Jesus, a loving and devoted son, brother and friend, and to live life to the fullest. Lance, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 5:21 You will be deeply missed. Until we meet again, rest in peace.
