Funeral services for Julius Balcerowicz, 88, of Needville, TX, are set for 2:00 PM Friday, April 7, 2017, at Immanuel Evangelical Church, 9018 Church Street, Needville, TX 77461, with burial following in Immanuel Evangelical Church Cemetery, Needville, TX.
Visitation will be 5 - 7:00 PM Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 3103 School Street, Needville, TX 77461, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be Tom Balcerowicz, Joe Lovel, Kevin Lovel, Arthur Bernshausen, Otis Hester, and Leslie Pieper.
Julius Balcerowicz passed away April 3, 2017, in Needville, TX. He was born October 28, 1928, in Richmond, TX, to the late Frank and Hattie Borowicz Balcerowicz. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1946. On August 23, 1952, he married Jeanette Bernshausen of Needville, TX. He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Church in Needville, TX. Julius was an amazing fiddle player and had his own band, the Texas Strings. He was a past judge for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Fiddlers' Contest. He was employed by Central Freight of Houston, Dusek Construction, WKM, and he retired from Schlumberger of Sugar Land, TX. He retired in 1990 and operated his son's ranch until ALS overtook him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Jeanette Balcerowicz; his daughter, Jewel Lovel and son-in-law, Joe Lovel; his son, Thomas Balcerowicz and daughter-in-law, Michelle; three grandchildren, Sarah Balcerowicz, Katie Lovel, and Kevin Lovel; his sister, Dorothy Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Houston Hospice of El Campo, especially hospice providers Birdie Moore and Joe Hochman, along with caregiver, Mary Hudson.
Memorials may be given to the Immanuel Evangelical Church Cemetery Fund, 9018 Church Street, Needville, TX 77461.
