Obituary

Julie Long Laskoskie, age 87, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on January 6, 2017 at her home in Sugar Land, TX. A native Houstonian, she was born on January 5, 1930.

Julie was a graduate of San Jacinto High School in Houston, and held the title of "Miss Houston Information Bureau" of 1949. She began her career in public service working for the Tax Assessor Collector for Harris County in Title Services, and then worked in the banking industry as a loan officer for over 35 years at Rosenberg Bank & Trust and Wells Fargo Bank. She retired from banking in 1996 but continued her work as the sole owner of Fort Bend Title Service until 1998.

Julie loved the Lord Jesus with her whole heart and was known for having a very deep faith in God and a strong prayer life. She inspired many with her positive approach to life and trusted God with each day. She loved her family and her numerous Boston Terriers. Julie was involved in several charitable activities, preferring to remain behind the scenes. A Charter Member of Second Baptist Church in Rosenberg, she was very active in teaching in the Children's Ministry, Women's Ministry, and Vacation Bible School. She took great joy in decorating her church for the Christmas holidays. In 2010 she joined Sugar Land Baptist Church, which she called the friendliest church in Sugar Land, and loved being a member of their Joyful Believers Class during her golden years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius P. Long and Anna H. Smith; her brother Robert Long; and her loving husband of 36 years, Edward M. Laskoskie, Sr.

She is survived by her three sons, Glenn Ward of Sugar Land, Roger Ward of Crosby, Edward Laskoskie, Jr. of Richmond; her daughter Susan Bow and husband Michael of Sugar Land; granddaughters Julianna Cieslewicz, and Sherrill Brown; 3 great-grandchildren along with 26 nieces and nephews and their extended families; and her precious Boston Terrier Miss Annabelle.

Although her illness tried desperately to take away her voice of encouragement, she reminded us often, "Have faith in God", and "Just pray about it, trust God and everything will be okay."

A memorial service will be held at Sugar Land Baptist Church, 16755 Southwest Fwy. Sugar Land, TX on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 am. An open reception at the church will follow the service. A private burial was previously held at Davis-Greenlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers are great nephews: Mason Booth, Justin Fikes, Kyle Gutheinz, Myles Gutheinz, Leonard Philipp, Charles Pollard. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Clary, Lee Hartman, Mark Herfort, Clyde King, Scott McMenemy, Troy Nehls, Tony Talamini, Flint Turner, and Steve Vance.

Memorial donations can be made in Julie's name to these organizations: Sugar Land Baptist Church www.sugarlandbaptist.org or Living Water International www.water.cc.

Julie was greatly loved and we will miss her but we will not lose heart, for we know we will see her again one day in heaven.
