Judge Gary Alan Geick joined his Heavenly Father and many friends on October 2, 2016. Born in Wharton in 1948, he shared his June 11th Birthday with his father, the late Milton Geick.
Judge Geick is survived by his wife, Sue, after sharing 44 years of marriage. He was blessed with 2 daughters, Kera Alayne Faltysek and Krystle Anne McIntyre, who gave him the pleasure of 2 son-in-laws, Nathan Faltysek and Lance McIntrye, and 3 beautiful granddaughters, Makena Rae Faltysek, Madelyn Alayne Faltysek, and Emma Jayne McIntyre. He is also survived by his mother, Annabelle Geick Kear, one brother, Terry Geick and his wife, Harriett. Other family members include his brother-in-law, Sidney Kasting and wife, Kay, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Judge Geick was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rosenberg. After graduating from Lamar Consolidated High School and attending Wharton County Jr. College, Gary obtained degrees in Criminology and Business from Sam Houston State University where he became a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He made his life-long home in Ft. Bend County and married Sue (Kasting) on June 24, 1972. His business ventures included His Closet Menswear, G & G Construction, and Traveler's Inn Motel before being elected for 24 years as Justice of the Peace in Precinct One of Ft. Bend County. He continued as a Director of Rosenberg Bank & Trust through it becoming Wells Fargo.
Gary showed his love for wildlife while raising whitetail deer on his Diamond G Ranches in McMullen and Live Oak Counties. He loved going to the ranch to see God's country and share it with his family and friends.
Judge Geick was involved in many community activities. As a member of the Rosenberg-Richmond Chamber of Commerce, he initiated the Ft. Bend County Czech Fest and became a graduate of Leadership Fort Bend. Other memberships included the Sheriff's Association of Texas, Justice of the Peace and Constable Association, the Lion's Club, Texas Wildlife Association, Texas Southwest Cattleraisers Association, and the Republican Party. Gary enjoyed being a life member of Rosenberg and Richmond Masonic Lodges, the Fort Bend County Fair, and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. One of his favorite memberships was with the Tejas Vaqueros where he could support the western heritage that he loved so much.
Along with his passion for hunting, team roping, and singing country western songs, Gary loved being a Judge. While Justice of the Peace, he strived to keep students in school by initiating the Truancy Program for Lamar Consolidated I.S.D. which was chosen as a pilot program for all Texas School Districts. He implemented the use of the Alternate Dispute Resolution Program for Civil Matters along with the South Texas College of Law Mediation Clinic. He strived to keep people in their homes, always showing a big heart by fighting never to evict families during Christmas. Judge Geick initiated the "Free Valentine Weddings" in Ft. Bend County. This tradition was a thrill growing from individual weddings to a mass wedding on the Court House steps. His love of helping others was seen through his support of giving to those in need and striving to do all he could for the public.
Gary's greatest love was seeing his family happy. He loved his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, and granddaughters, who all gave him so much enjoyment while battling through the illnesses associated with multiple strokes during the past 7 years.
The family would like to thank all of you for your continuing prayers and support with a special thanks to his caretakers, Erin Wolf & Rose Cantu, for giving Gary over 5 years of understanding, companionship, and loving care while at home. He was also surrounded with care & love by Rose Hill Assisted Living and Vantage Hospice employees during these last months.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that you give to the charity of your choice, just as Judge Geick loved supporting Ft. Bend County.
