Funeral services for Joyce McDougal Welch, 88, of Rosenberg, TX, are set for 10 AM Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at First Baptist Church, 1117 First Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471, with Dr. John Reid and Dr. Donnie Melton officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston, TX.


Visitation will be 5 - 7 PM Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471.


Joyce was born in Houston, TX, on April 17, 1929, to the late Bob and Evalyn McDougal. She died November 20, 2017 in Richmond, TX. She was a graduate of Reagan High School and the University of Corpus Christi, where she met her future husband. She and her late husband, Reverend Leslie (Buddy) Welch, served as pastor and leaders of First Baptist Church of Port Mansfield, TX, Southland Baptist Church, Houston, TX, First Baptist Church of Gonzales, TX, First Baptist Church of Rosenberg, TX, First Baptist Church of Kingsville, TX, and First Baptist Church of Groves, TX. After retirement, they moved back to Rosenberg to enjoy life and grandkids. Joyce was either the pianist or organist at each church in which they served the Lord. She was known for playing "notes between the notes" with her God-given talent.


Joyce was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her in-laws, CV and Naomi Welch; and her oldest son, Douglas Welch. Left to cherish her memories are her remaining children: son, David Welch and wife, Koren Adams-Welch of Pittsburgh, PA; son, Danny Welch and wife Karen Welch of Houston, TX; and daughter, Leslye Welch of The Woodlands, TX; daughter-in-law, Lisa Welch, of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Aletha Keelen of Waco, TX; grandchildren, Taylor Welch and wife Katy Bratton-Welch of Kingwood, TX, Kalenn Welch-Crane and husband Charles Crane of Rosenberg, TX, Jason Welch of Houston, TX, Audrua Welch-Malvaez and husband Bobby Malvaez of Dallas, TX, Bo Welch of Pittsburgh, PA, Casey Welch-Keegan and husband Jarrod Keegan of Pittsburgh, PA. Joyce also had 4 great grandchildren whom she loved and cherished, and many cousins who loved and cherish her memoriies and love.
