Joshua Alan
Valentine
Oct 27, 1978 — Apr 4, 2025
Palacios
With heavy hearts, our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, and uncle Joshua Alan Valentine of Palacios, TX, on April 4, 2025, at the age of 46. Josh was born on October 27, 1978, in Cambridge, OH, to Jim and Nancy Valentine. He was a 1997 graduate of Needville High School and earned his Bachelor's degree from Tarleton State University. Josh had an incredible work ethic and a deep knowledge and skill to fix practically anything. The number one requirement for any job he pursued was that it had to be outdoors. During high school and college, he worked on different ranches. After college, he worked for the El Campo Livestock Commission. Over the last several years, he excelled in the oil industry as a field supervisor for multiple wells. This year Josh finally pursued his dream of starting his own business for maintaining wells to maximize field production, and he was in high demand and becoming incredibly successful.
Josh's true joy came from living on the bay and spending time out on the water with his family, friends, and treasured dog Rita. In addition to fishing, his other passions included football, NASCAR, and especially grilling. His food was quite popular in the neighborhood, and he was known for his mouth-watering brisket which was always cooked to perfection. Josh had a huge heart and a giving spirit. His door was always open, and everyone was welcome at his table. He also never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Josh loved the 4th of July and each year he looked forward to putting on a huge fireworks show with his community that could rival any big city show. An important cause to Josh was the annual Patriots and Heroes Outdoors Journeys of Healing event at Schicke Point. He would volunteer his services to take wounded veterans fishing in the bay near his house. He was deeply honored to help with such a rewarding experience, and he greatly enjoyed the time he spent with each soldier.
Josh is survived by his mother Nancy, brothers Jamie and Jason (wife Carrie), sister Janessa, nephews James (fiancée Emily) and Will, nieces Anna (fiancée Chandler), Claire, and Josie, great-nephew Beau, and many other close relatives and cherished friends. Josh is preceded in death by his father Jim and his grandparents Ludwig and Delores Fishbeck and Andy and Doris Valentine.
We would like to thank Josh's Schicke Point "family" on Carancahua Bay for being such an important part of his life and for helping us navigate through this extremely difficult time.
We invite all who loved Josh to join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, April 12 at 10 AM at First English Lutheran Church in Damon (3615 College St./CR 264K). To honor Josh's love of fishing and the 4th of July, we encourage everyone to wear fishing shirts or red, white, and blue.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in memory of Josh Valentine to Patriots and Heroes Outdoors, PO Box 1146, El Campo, TX 77437 (to donate with a credit card, please call Susan Swanson at 979-541-7841) or to First English Lutheran Church, PO Box 129, Damon, TX 77430.
