John Roy
Horak
Jul 15, 1935 — Oct 1, 2023
Rosenberg
John Roy Horak went to be with our Lord on October 1, 2023. John was born on July 15, 1935, in Rosenberg, TX, to Charlie and Lydia Horak. He lived his whole life in Rosenberg, graduating from Lamar High School in 1954. John married Shirley Ann Steffen of Guy, TX, on October 22, 1955. They would have been married 68 years this month.
John volunteered in his church for many years as church secretary-treasurer. He worked for Fort Bend County as a young man out of high school. He worked at W-K-M for 32 years. He finished his working career with Fort Bend County Engineering Department. John really enjoyed woodworking. He could fix anything with wood, making furniture, wooden toys, and decorations. The joys of his life were the grands, the greats, and the great great grandchildren.
John and Shirley have two children: daughter, Deborah Horak-Bridwell, her family Taylor Bridwell and Kali Bridwell Moore (Merritt) and her children Caleb, Kathryn, Joel and Shane; and son, Stephen Horak (Christi Cotten), his family Brandi Cotton D'Errico (Mattia) and children Shaelyn Dussetochleger (Dylan), Hannah, Aydan, Mia, Mattia, Cori Cotten Wilhite (Brent) and children Jordyn Lee (Logan) and Jesse Wilhite, Ashli Horak Arnold (John) and children Addilyn and Maverick; one great great granddaughter, Leighton Lee; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding John in death are his parents, Charlie and Lydia Horak; his siblings and in-laws, Charlie (Margaret)Horak, Jr., Lorene (Julian) Kujawa, Daniel (Ruby) Horak, Mary (Luke) Lucas, and Ruth Nell (Gene) Coursey; son-in-law, Bob Bridwell; and one granddaughter, Steffeni Ruth Horak.
We will always remember John as hardworking, generous, a golden heart for God's work.
