Jeneal Maydell
Nelson
May 11, 1933 — Jul 28, 2021
Beasley
Janeal Maydell Nelson, 88, of Beasley, Texas, met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, after a difficult battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Janeal was born on May 11, 1933, in Beasley, TX, to Frank and Velma Walzel. Having been raised in a farming and ranching family and experiencing the hardships and demands of tending to her family's farm throughout her childhood, she made a promise to herself that she would "never marry a farmer or rancher." As promises go, on July 9, 1954, she married Wayne Nelson, a local farmer and rancher and began her career as a farmer's wife and homemaker.
She volunteered at a local hospital for many years, served in many capacities at Orchard High School, and served as a volunteer at First Baptist Church Beasley as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, and church bookkeeper. She also worked at the cotton gins in Rosenberg as their bookkeeper and for Farm Bureau Insurance in the downtown Rosenberg office location.
She was well-known among friends and family for her famous, homemade jellies and jams, her Jello salads, and her talented painting and creativity. She loved her family immeasurably, and her silly sayings, delicious homemade meals, and feisty personality will be greatly missed by her family but carried on through her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Velma Walzel and brothers Earl Walzel & Sterling Walzel, her husband of 52 years Wayne Nelson, as well as her daughter Cynthia Lynn Nelson. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Karen and Don Carter; granddaughter Courtney and her husband Stephen Wilcox; granddaughter Meredith and her husband Michael Pitz; and her most precious great-grandchildren Grace, Carter and Caleb Wilcox and Stockton Pitz. She is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews who were very special to her.
The family would like to thank Altus Hospice for their love and support during Mrs. Nelson's time of declining health including Michelle, Paula, Linda, Joyce, Ron, Andrea, and Aretha. We are also very thankful for her in-home caregivers Alicia, Faith, and Sam.
