Jared Michael
Kearney Jr.
Apr 11, 1960 — May 11, 2025
Houston
Jared Michael Kearney Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, joined the Lord on Sunday, May 11, 2025. He was 65 years old.
Jared was preceded in death by his father, Jared Michael Kearney. He is survived by his devoted mother, Jean Moore Kearney; his loving wife, Ashley Wehrly Kearney; his cherished children, Amanda Kearney Russell (Matt), Jenna Kearney Zachariah (Cooper), and Jared Michael Kearney, III; and his adoring granddaughters, Allie, Macy, Riley, and Micah Rae. He is also survived by his siblings, Katherine Kearney Lowrie, Anne Kearney Jones, Mary Kearney Jeffery, and Edward James Kearney, along with nieces and nephews who fondly revered him as the fun Uncle. He is also survived by many beloved cousins and friends.
Born on April 11, 1960, Jared was raised in Yardley, Pennsylvania and graduated from Bishop Egan High School before attending Mansfield University where he earned his bachelor's degree. Jared was a proud member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity.
At 24, Jared began a distinguished career at MCI (later WorldCom and then Verizon.) He enjoyed more than 30 years with Verizon Business, ultimately retiring as Executive Vice President. After retiring, Jared joined Xerox Corporation where he served as Senior Vice President, Global High Tech/Software. He concluded his career in executive roles at several BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) companies. Jared was known for his integrity, leadership, fun work atmosphere and the deep respect he earned from colleagues and employees worldwide. Jared was always focused on supporting others, many of whom say his mentorship helped transform their careers. His work took him to South America, Asia, Europe, and Canada, but it was his role as a father that brought him the greatest joy and was his proudest accomplishment.
Jared's love for and devotion to his family was evident in every aspect of his life. Traveling with Ashley was a highlight of his life, and they explored many corners of the world. He had joyful memories of childhood family trips to Maine and the Adirondacks, fishing in Alaska with his Dad and brother, cruising around Europe with his daughters, skiing with Jerry and watching him play sports, and visiting his beloved Cape May with family, the place of fond memories and much peace.
Jared loved quiet evenings at home and vibrant family gatherings. He cherished homemade pizza nights and was great in the kitchen after many years working as a chef. He shared laughter and quick wit with Mandy, enjoyed concerts filled with music and dance with Jenna, and embarked on fishing adventures across the country with Jerry. Jared was devoted to his mother, and they shared regular long and meaningful conversations. Music also played a large role in Jared's life, and he did his best to share the classics from the 70's and 80's with his children. It was always a singing and dancing party in the Kearney home. Like his dad, Jared loved spending hours woodworking.
A proud Irish American, Jared's heritage was a cornerstone of his identity, and he loved visiting Ireland with his family. His father instilled a deep love for their Irish roots, a passion he passed down to his children. Jared's legacy lives on in the values he upheld: loyalty, love, and the importance of family.
Jared was raised in the Catholic church and was a man of quiet faith. His faith was expressed through acts of kindness and service, always offering support and compassion to those in need. Everywhere Jared went he left his mark with his smile, humor and love.
A Funeral Mass will be held in loving memory of Jared at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive, Houston, TX 77024, followed by a reception at The Goodman at Village Towers, 9655 Katy Freeway, Suite 3190, Houston, TX 77024.
