James R. Woods, 78, of Richmond, TX went to be with his Lord, Tuesday July 3, 2018.

James was born in Simonton, TX March 26, 1940, the son of Marvin and Lillian Woods.

He worked most of his life in home construction as a new home builder, remodeling, and general contract work.

James enjoyed many things in life, most importantly, his family, friends and pets. He also enjoyed going to his church, Grace Community Bible Church, and visiting his church family. He loved putting together big gatherings at his home and barbecuing for everyone. The Christmas season is something he truly loved. This is when he was able to dress as Santa and participate in local events such as, Miracle on Morton Street, Christmas Parades, the ABC13 Share Your Holidays Food Drive, and greeting children at the Richmond Police Department's Christmas "Santa Behind the Badge".

James was a rich man, not in the monetary sense, but in his Love for others, his kindness, and his willingness to help others when asked.

James is survived by his partner Jo Ann Stuart, daughter Kellie Phillips and husband Danny of East Bernard, TX, grandson Dustin Sliva and wife Tara of Miami, FL, granddaughter Malynn Plunkett of Arlington, TX, step-grandson Zachary of East Bernard, TX and survived by his brother Douglas. He is survived by his step children; Paul Dawes and wife Diane of Needville, TX, Diana Power and husband Robert of Richmond, TX, Kimberly French of Richmond, TX, Marianne Dawes of Houston, TX, Timothy Dawes and wife Shelia of Richmond, TX. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

James is preceded in death by his first wife Carolyn, his parents Marvin and Lillian Woods and his brother George.

A time of visitation will be from 5 to 7pm, Monday, July 9, 2018 at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Grace Community Bible Church, 5121 FM 359, Richmond, TX 77406, with burial to follow in Friedens United Church of Christ Cemetery, Beasley, TX.
