A Memorial Service for James P. Starks, 78, of Richmond, TX, is set for 3:00 PM Friday May 7, 2021, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel,
1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471
.
A devoted and loving husband to Bonnie Ciardi and doggie daddy to their beloved Lucy, Jim was "the rock" of the family and a charming and charismatic man. He loved a good steak, a good scotch, a fine wine, a good laugh, a good story, and appreciated all things of beauty in this world. A complete romantic with strongly held beliefs, he felt deeply and loved with his whole heart.
A proud member of Morton Lodge No. 72, Jim was proud to receive the Golden Trowel Award for exceptional service to his community. As an active Mason for 48 years, he delighted in both the fellowship of his Brothers and in their collective acts of service.
A proud alumnus of both University of Michigan and Ferris State College, Jim was an engineer and mathematician working in telephony and computer software throughout a long and successful professional career, one which necessitated relocation to seven different US states before ultimately settling down in the Great State of Texas.
For many years he was an avid hunter and fly fisherman, expertly tying his own flies, but traded in his rods and reels for clubs and putters upon moving to the South.
Jim is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bonnie Ciardi, his brother Thomas Starks, and his daughters Cynthia Starks and Mary Starks, and their three children.
