Obituary

James Robert McColloch was born October 20, 1923 near Ganado, Texas to Ira Franklin McColloch and Emma Phillips McColloch. Our beloved Uncle Jim joined his heavenly family on June 24, 2014.

Greeting Uncle Jim in heaven were his parents, brothers Samuel Phillips McColloch and Thomas Ray McColloch and sister-in-law Hilda (Mrs. Sam) McColloch.

Left behind to carry on Uncle Jim's legacy are his sister-in-law Willie Ann (Mrs. Tom) McColloch, nieces and nephews Kathy McColloch (Lonnie) Meadows, Michael James (Terry) McColloch, Bobby McColloch, Tanna McColloch Lukas, and Pat (Linda) McColloch. Uncle Jim also showered his love on great-nieces and nephews Meg (Austin) Norwood, Ashley McColloch, Austin McColloch, Jacob Stovall McColloch, Matthew Lukas, Jonathan (Jessica) Lukas, and Noah Lukas. Extended family includes Cousin Wayne Black, a host of Phillips family extended cousins, one great-great niece and three great-great nephews.

The son of rice farmers, Uncle Jim spent his youth moving to various farming communities of Texas before a final family move to Richmond, Texas in 1936. Most of his schooling occurred in rural areas and he often talked about riding bareback to class.

As an adult, Uncle Jim enjoyed first following the Colt 45's through radio broadcasts and then later the Astros on television. The Oilers and then the Texans were also closely followed.

Fishing was a favorite McColloch pastime. The house at Port Alto was followed by one on Caney Creek. If fishing was bad, there was always a family bridge game. In later years, Uncle Jim enjoyed fishing trips to Lake Amistad with Willie Ann and Tom.

No group of nieces and nephews has ever been blessed with a more special uncle. Uncle Jim was always willing to play cards, a board game, and baseball or tag football. As we added to our own families, Uncle Jim kept up with happenings and news. He loved family gatherings.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Renisha, Alexis and all of the Touching Hearts at Home staff, the therapists and staff of Cambridge Skilled Care Center, Dr. Letosha Gale and her caring office and the host of friends who took Uncle Jim food, newspapers, and most importantly.took the time to visit with him. He was always so appreciative of anything done for him.

Great nephew Jake would like to add, "You are in God's country now and have all the free rein to ride. Enjoy yourself. You will always ride through my mind."

Thanks, Uncle Jim. We love you.
