Obituary

James Barney Arnold, born August 7, 1956, passed away peacefully in his sleep, returning home to our Lord on June 3, 2020. He was born to Calvin and Shirley Arnold in Hammond, Louisiana, where he grew up with his three brothers Kevin, Aaron and Patrick.

James is preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother Aaron.

James attended the University of Dallas, ultimately graduating from University of New Orleans with a liberal arts degree. He married Patricia Connolly on October 23, 1982. As owner/operator of Just5 Services, along with his friend and trusted partner of 8 years, Steve Thompson, he placed programmers and engineers for 25 years.

He is survived by his caring and devoted wife Patricia Connolly Arnold, adventurous and compassionate daughter Kathleen Connolly Arnold, clever and charismatic daughter Courtney (Arnold) LoCoco, chatty sports-loving son-in-law Michael LoCoco, and four gorgeous goofball grandchildren: Julian (6), Dominic (3), Vivian (2), and Maximilian (8 months). James also leaves behind the best friends and neighbors anyone could ask for: Zane and Duyen Reynolds, and their wonderful children Max and Mary.

James attended mass as frequently as his faith permits. Each week he could be found wandering the aisles of his local HEB in search for frozen shrimp on sale, and purchasing items of which he already had 6, much to the chagrin of his wife. He would use this opportunity to evangelize to strangers. "Are you Catholic?" he would inquire. If his target replied, "no," he would interrogate further, "well, why not?" We never witnessed someone reply in the affirmative, but it likely would have resulted in high praise and adulation.

When he was not tending to his garden he was cooking and baking simultaneously, reading one of his hundreds of books for the third or fourth time, and wondering aloud each day if it was going to rain; on the day of his death it poured.

He loved his faith and family deeply and dearly. He will be with us always. Requiescat in pace.

There will be a memorial mass for James Arnold at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020 at St. Theresa Catholic Church: 705 St. Theresa Blvd, Sugar Land, Tx. 77498 . Unfortunately, the circumstances surrounding Covid19 and Patty's health prohibit a reception afterward. The family welcomes cards and notes, either mailed to the house or delivered at the memorial mass.
