Henry Roy
King
Aug 1, 1948 — Aug 16, 2026
Sugar Land
Henry (Hank) Roy King, age 78, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 16th, 2026, during a hospitalization in ICU at Methodist Hospital Sugar Land. He was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on August 1st, 1948 to Arlene Liebsack King and Roy Daryl King.
Hank graduated with a BA in History from Doane College (Crete, Nebraska) and a MS in Education from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. He moved to Omaha where he taught history at North High School. He went on to be a life insurance agent for National Life of Vermont until his retirement. He and his wife Tricia moved to Sugar Land, Texas in 2002 to be near their daughter Stacey and her family. Throughout his life he was an avid sports enthusiast, especially following Nebraska football and basketball. Other favorites were the Chicago Bears and the Yankees. He volunteered as a youth basketball coach for several years. After moving to Texas, he fully embraced and faithfully attended his grandsons' games. Another love was walking his dogs and sitting with his cats beside him. Many hours were spent reading WWII histories. Hank enjoyed traveling, often to visit museums, to play new golf courses and to enjoy desert sights. His last golf game was in June 2026 at a favorite golf course in Nebraska. While he enjoyed the destinations, he equally found joy and peace in the journey; he was always up for a road trip, both short or long.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Patricia Arnold King, his son Matthew Roy King (Melissa), stepdaughters Stacey Ellen Brandt (Randy), and Rebecca Shearer West, grandsons Nicholas Brandt (Jessica), Mitchell Brandt, and Jacob Brandt, granddaughter Vivian Giorgetti, sister Corliss King Schmidt (Michael) and his brother-in-law Richard Arnold (Cindy). Also cherishing his memory are many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends in Nebraska and Texas.
His interment will be held on September 5th in a private family service at the Columbarium at Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond, Texas.
Memorial gifts may be sent to Rosenberg-Richmond Helping Hands or your favorite pet rescue.
