Gwen was strong in her faith and was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church for 23 years and was a Daughter of the King. She served in many capacities including Altar Guild, Vestry, Pastoral Care and Community of Hope which she felt was her calling. Having been a lung cancer survivor, she had a passion for helping others battling cancer by providing hope, love and support. Calvary and her church family held a special place in her heart.
Gwen loved tennis and played at Westside Tennis Club for many years. Although she could no longer play, she never missed a tournament on TV. She also loved Texas A&M football where Saturdays in the fall were often scheduled around games. She was an avid bridge player and played in several bridge groups through the years where she made countless friends. She and Ennis loved the Texas coast and fishing and both participated in a number of billfish tournaments. Her fondest memories were of the many trips she and Ennis took in their 41 years together.
Gwen will forever be remembered as a classic Southern lady who always dressed to impress and wore a smile that could light up the room. She had a heart as big as Texas.
