Graveside services for Geneva Webb Guilbeaux, 83, of Richmond, TX, are set for 11 AM Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Morton Cemetery, Richmond, TX, with Rev. Mike Huss officiating.
She was born Geneva Sparks on August 12, 1932, in Flora, LA, to Coleman Sparks and Lettie Belle Rector Sparks. She died March 28, 2016, in Sugar Land, TX.
In 1949, she graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in Orange, TX. She married P.V. Webb on December 18, 1948, and was married to him for 31 years before his death on February 3, 1980. Geneva worked for Coastal Salvage, Zapalac Motors, Ashcraft Motors, and Bickham Drilling Company, before joining the George Foundation and Morton Cemetery staff. She worked for the George Foundation during the time that the George Ranch was established, and her grandson, Matt, is an active part of The George Ranch today. Eventually, she retired from the Law Firm of Mayor, Day and Caldwell/Houston, TX.
Her life was full - she loved to dance and attend live theatrical productions, and red was her favorite color. Her home was tastefully decorated with Asian accents, and she enjoyed entertaining family and friends. On December 8, 1989, she married Charles Guilbeaux. She and Charles travelled to all 50 states, and they had great fun watching Astros baseball. Geneva enjoyed plants and flowers and birds, especially redbirds, and she considered her gardening hobby to be therapeutic. History was an important aspect of her life, especially family history. She was a descendant of a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto, and she was deeply proud of her Louisana and Texas roots. A woman of faith and family, she was active for many years in the First Baptist Church of Rosenberg, serving as a choir member, a Sunday School teacher, and a G.A. Leader. Later she was a member of Tallowood Baptist Church, Houston. Geneva will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
