Our Father, Mr. Franklin Dee Hoot, age 78, peacefully went to be with the Lord at 10:17 PM on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. He fought valiantly after several heart attacks, kidney disease, diabetes, and pneumonia. Our father, the only son, was born July 27, 1936, in Big Creek, Texas to Jesse Roy and Leocadia Hoot. He was preceded in death by his sister Mattie Lee Justice, his son Maurice F. Hoot and his favorite dog Michael Dillon. Our Dad was survived by his former wife Josephine Hoot and their four grown children Ginger Scholz, Kevin Hoot, Cherimaya Hoot and Amanda Brazda and our Father's two loving sisters Dorothy Holtman and Diana Ellermann.
Our Father was a straight up kind of guy and he was a simple hard working man that grew up in a small town with an attitude that the sky's the limit and if you were not up early you were wasting your day on your backside. He was always up at 4am. He always took the time to vote, kept up with local and international politics, liked watching John Wayne movies and spent time with his eight grandchildren; Andrew Beach, Shelby Hoot, Joseph Robinson, Kaylee Rodriguez, Brooke Rodriguez, Johanna, Hoot, Jeune Hoot, and Sydney Scholz.
Our Father lived to work on sky scrapers for the Ironworker's Union in Houston, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Detroit, Hawaii, and many other states in his younger days. He was not scared of heights. Our Father enjoyed reading books, watching the history channel, taking care of his dogs and cats, driving big trucks for our brother, welding and made neon signs. He loved trains and airplanes and took us places every chance he could get when he was not working his laborious jobs.
Our Father could strike up conversation with anybody. He was easy to talk to with funny and crazy stories to tell. Our Father was a man on the go, there was not a back road he did not know.
Our Father had no fancy degree but always encouraged us to do well in school. He thought education was important in succeeding in life.
Our Father taught us never to accept no, negativism and to try again and not fail.
Our Father was not a religious man but towards the end of his life we think he connected with the Lord. May you rest in peace Daddy until we meet again in heaven. We pray this for you every time we think of you while we remain here on this earth:
~The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside still waters;
He restores my soul. He leads me in right paths For His Name's sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil;
For you are with me; Your rod and Your staff - they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, You anoint my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life. And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord My whole life long.~
