On December 1, we lost the light of our lives when Frances departed. Frances Steinman was born Frances Navarette September 30, 1945, in Bakersfield, CA. She was second oldest in a family of 8 children belonging to Raymond and Frances Navarette. After moving to San Diego, CA, she attended Clairemont High School. She later attended Lyle's Beauty College in Fresno, California. She became a most successful cosmetologist winning several international competitions.

Working as a hair stylist in the Point Loma area of San Diego, she was raising her daughter Darlene when she met and secretly married Don Steinman, local physicist and father of two. In 1981, the family relocated to Missouri City, Texas, where Frances went on to be a successful hairstylist at Les Girls in Stafford. In 1985 she opened her own shop, Françoise, in Sugar Land, then Françoise-Too in Missouri City, Cachet in Clearwater, Fla., and Avante in Missouri City. As a community contributor, she donated her time and hair styling skills to low income women looking for employment and kids preparing for their first day of school.

Her family and friends will miss most her amazing genuine generous spirit, her absolute feistiness, and her fierce commitment to her family. She died on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Donald Steinman, of Missouri City, Texas; her daughter Darlene Miranda and granddaughter Stephanie Guzman, of Stafford, Texas; her daughter Jennifer Oliveira, of San Diego, California; her sisters, Rose Juarez, of Florida, Janette Corral, of Lake Elsinore, California; Diane Harte, of Escondido, California; and brother Ron Navarette, of San Diego, California.
