The family would like to thank Tarecia Hargrove (caregiver) and Elizabeth Williams and her staff at Reliable Oaks/Supreme Memory Care in Needville for their loving care of Ervin over the past year.
Ervin graduated from Marlin High School in 1952 and had an associate's degree from DeVry Institute. He met Marcie, the love of his life, at church camp and they were married in 1956.
Ervin was an entrepreneur with a knack for fixing things, "MacGyver" style. Duct tape, bailing wire and chewing gum were his tools of choice. He started Kroll's Communications in 1962 which leased and serviced 2 way radios to local law enforcement agencies and also to emergency services. He also sold and serviced Motorola televisions. In 1972 he closed Kroll's Communications and began Kroll's Marine.
Ervin "retired" to THE farm in 1986 when Charles, Susan and John took over the boat business. We lovingly called the cows his pets, because he rarely sold any and they all had names.
Church choir and singing were Ervin's passion. His booming bass voice rang out most every Sunday in the church choir. He sang at First Methodist downtown Houston in both services for over 25 years. He also served his Sunday School class and Men's Brotherhood as treasurer and song leader.
