Elizabeth "Betty"
Weiss Stern
Nov 14, 1924 — Jun 16, 2020
Rosenberg
Elizabeth (Betty) Weiss Stern left her earthly home and entered her heavenly home in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 16, 2020 in Needville, TX. She was born November 14, 1924 in Brenham, TX to Robert Fredrich and Elizabeth Mahlmann Weiss, baptized on December 28, 1924 at Salem Lutheran Church by Rev. William Utesch and confirmed on September 25, 1938 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham by Rev. Arthur Hartmann.
Elizabeth attended Brenham public schools and graduated salutatorian from Brenham High School on May 29, 1942. She began working in the Washington County A.S.C. office, located in the Courthouse in Brenham from 1942-1944. Elizabeth married the love of her life of 68 years, Arthur Lee (A.L.) Stern, in Brenham on Sunday, April 9, 1944. A.L. and Betty reared their family in East Bernard and Rosenberg where she was a steadfast housewife and meticulous bookkeeper for the family farming and ranching business. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she spent countless hours in Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, Church Choir, Board of Education and Sunday School. Elizabeth enjoyed visiting and singing with shut-ins and the elderly. She was a devoted wife, and a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She showed her love and support by attending numerous events and milestones of her family's lives. Elizabeth thoroughly enjoyed cheering for her Texas Aggies and Houston Astros, fishing, playing cards, dominos, Skipbo, slots, and especially winning Bingo with her many friends, but more than anything, she loved singing old gospel favorites.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two infant brothers; brother, Arthur Weiss; sister, Alice Kolwes; nieces, Diane Kolwes and Dana Neumann and nephew, Paul Ohlenbusch.
Elizabeth leaves her loving family to cherish her memory: daughter, Dr. Marie (Bill) Plemons; son, Dr. John (Debbie) Stern; daughter, Sandra (Randy) Muegge; son, Reggie (Valerie) Stern and daughter, Debra (Butch) Butler; grandchildren, Tamara (John) Jobe, Kelli (Larry) Moore, Dr. Leah (Dr. Amol) Bhatki, Amy Stern, Keli (Ronny) Smith, Amber (Brandon) Farrell, Sarah (Cory) Meals, Dr. Aaron Muegge, Kyle (Sharla) Muegge, Cailee Butler and Breanna Butler; great grandchildren, Jaxon and Lauren Jobe, Elizabeth Moore, Aria and Samara Bhatki, Makala Smith, Faith Farrell, Finley, Ivy and Layla Meals, Reagan Muegge; step great- grandchildren: Autumn (Cisco) Pequeno, Austin and Madison Moore; step great-great-grandchild, Scarlett Pequeno; sister, Doris (Herman) Ohlenbusch; many nieces and nephews; and fur babies, Precious and Smokey.
