Elena Gutierrez, a lifelong Texan, passed away August 23, 2022, in Sugar Land, TX at the age of 99. Elena was born Aug 18, 1923, in Brady, TX to the late Jose M. and Santos Sauceda Solis. She was the second oldest of 10 children and assisted her parents with the many duties in the large boisterous household. She married Jesus Bara Gutierrez on Jan 20, 1942, in Brady. She cared for their first child while Jesus was in combat in Europe in WWII. Elena and Jesus lived in many places including San Antonio, Levelland, Ropesville, Lubbock, and Brownwood where they built a house near the lake for their retirement. Elena enjoyed fishing and was very good at it. She was an excellent seamstress making clothing for her family. She enjoyed getting together with family for feasts of tamales and other great home cooked food. Jesus passed in 2004 after 62 years of marriage. Together they had 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Elena will lie beside Jesus at Peaceful Gardens in Lubbock, TX. The family wishes to thank Memorial Hermann Hospice and the many helpers in the Sugar Land medical community in assisting her in her final years.
