Funeral services for Dorothy June Byrd, 82, of Needville, Texas, are set for 9:30 am Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel, 3103 School Street, Needville, TX 77461. Burial will follow in Damon Public Cemetery, Damon, Texas. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday, September 22, 2017, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel in Needville, Texas.



Dorothy was born November 27, 1934, in Ottawa, Kansas, to Fred and Edith Haas. She died September 19, 2017, at her home in Needville, Texas. Dorothy worked numerous jobs until retiring from the Needville SPJST Nursing home. After retirement, she enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with her "other" children, Boomer, Bubba, and Queenie. Dorothy's grandchildren meant the world to her, and she really enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.



She is survived by her son, Tommy Wayne Kostelnik and wife Sharon; grandchildren Keith Kostelnik and wife Melissa, and Michele Smith and husband Nate; great-grandchildren Bradley, Kaitlyn, Wesley, and Zachary Kostelnik; brothers Jerry Haas and Harold Haas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Byrd; parents Fred and Edith Haas; siblings, Billy Joe Haas, Doyle Haas, John Charles Haas, Fred "Junior" Haas, Lucille Vavrecka, Patty Pucek, and Raymond Haas.
