Obituary

Dorothy Allen Alexander of Richmond, Texas, daughter of James Harvey Allen and Annie Irene Ridgway, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at the age of ninety on January 30th 2015, after a long illness. Dorothy was born in the small community of Red Bluff, TX on October 2, 1924. She grew up on the family farm near Lolita, TX. Dorothy graduated from La Ward High School early, then moved to a rooming house in Victoria to attend Victoria College. While there she met and married Edward Anthony Alexander, Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. To aid in the war effort she took a job as a certified parachute mechanic and became an Army wife. During her marriage to Edward she moved to many different locations here and abroad. Later in life, she moved back to Texas and finished raising her three daughters as a single mother. Dorothy retired from J.C. Penny's in 1986. In 2000, she moved in with her daughter Lisa and her husband, Jerry Railsback in Richmond, TX. Dorothy maintained her strong spirit, will to live and sense of humor as she bravely fought Cancer and Parkinson's disease.

Dorothy is survived by her three daughters; Jean Hayes, Virginia Pape and husband Forrest, and Lisa Rae Railsback. She is also survived by her four grandchildren; Raymond Richards and wife Laurie, Mark Richards, Julie Kubsch and husband Bryan, and Amy Carrol and husband Michael. Dorothy also lived long enough to be privileged to have four great grandchildren; Zachary and Lindsey Kubsch and Kelley and Connor Richards.
