Funeral Services for Doris Jean Silhavy will be 10 AM Friday, October 10, 2014, at The First United Methodist Church, 1127 Third Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471, with Rev. Bob Sinclair officiating. Burial will follow at Davis-Greenlawn Cemetery, Rosenberg, TX.


Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 4th St., Rosenberg, TX 77471.


Pallbearers for the service will be Monte Silhavy, Jeffery Silhavy, Zachary Silhavy, J.D. Silhavy, Kevin Hupe, and Gary Hupe.


Doris Jean was born to parents Martin and Norma Stehle in Rosenberg, TX, on February 3, 1943. She passed away on October 6, 2014, at age 71, in Rosenberg, TX, surrounded by family and friends.

In 1964, she married Emil Silhavy Jr. at The First United Methodist Church in Rosenberg, TX. They were married for over 50 years. They had 2 sons, Jeffery and Monte. She worked for Sava Healthcare in Houston for 18 years, before retiring in 2014. She loved going to Delta Downs to play penny slots.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Ralph Hupe; father-in-law, Emil Silhavy; mother-in-law, Grace Silhavy Loesch; and brothers-in-law, Robert Silhavy and Larry Kramer.

She is survived by husband Emil Silhavy Jr.; sons, Jeffery and Monte Silhavy and his wife Josefina; grandchildren, Heather, Zachary and Lindsey Silhavy, and Dania Ortiz; great-grandchildren, Nehemiah Garner, Zaydan Silhavy, and Elias Riley.
