Nov 21, 1931 — Jun 27, 2025
Richmond
Deloris Louise Sloan, 93, of Richmond, Texas, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2025, in Rosenberg, Texas.
Deloris was born on November 21, 1931, in Brenham, Texas, to Andrew and Gertrude Schroeder. She was a graduate of Brenham High School and went on to attend Blinn College. On February 12, 1952, she married William "Bill" Joseph Sloan, Jr. and together they shared fifty-one years of love and partnership. Deloris spent time at home raising her children, served as secretary for the Cole Theatre in Rosenberg, Texas, served as secretary for First Presbyterian Church of Rosenberg, Texas for nine years, and would later go on to devote approximately forty years to Slavonic Mutual Fire Insurance in Rosenberg, Texas. Deloris and Bill were active members of First Presbyterian Church for approximately forty years, where Deloris served as an Elder and Clerk of the Session. Deloris, affectionately known as "Deedie" to her family, was a dedicated and gracious woman who valued her relationship with the Lord and with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, a doting mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed going on trips with her family, swimming, playing the piano, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Deloris is survived by her son, William Joseph Sloan, III and wife, Linda, of Pearland, Texas, son Russell Sloan and wife, Stephanie, of Rosenberg, Texas, and her brother, Andrew Schroeder, of Brenham, Texas and his family. She is also survived by her grandchildren, William Joseph Sloan, IV and wife, Misty, of Pearland, Texas, Robert Sloan and wife, Tuesday, of Needville, Texas, Matthew Sloan and wife, Paige, of Pearland, Texas, Lauren Sloan of Needville, Texas, Brett Sloan and wife, Victoria, of Pearland, Texas, and Garrett Sloan and wife, Tori, of Montgomery, Texas. Deloris was blessed with ten great-grandchildren – Kynlee, Jamisyn, Carsyn, Parker, Matthew, Payton, Paisley, Sawyer, Luke and Emmitt – all of whom she loved dearly and from whom she received much laughter and joy.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Gertrude Schroeder, her husband, William "Bill" Joseph Sloan, Jr., and her son, John Sloan.
There will be a Graveside Service for Deloris held at 10 AM Monday, July 7, 2025 at Davis Greenlawn Cemetery in Rosenberg, Texas. The graveside service will be officiated by Pastor Greg Garcia of Creekside Christian Fellowship. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
The Sloan family would like to send a special thank you to Deloris' treasured, lifelong friends – Jerlean Anderson, Florence Gaskamp, Dorothy Richter, and Mary Sunday. In addition, the family would like to extend a special thank you to New Light Hospice, specifically: Debra, CNA, Doris, RN, and Stephanie, Social Worker. Deloris also wanted to show appreciation to her granddaughter, Lauren Sloan, who tended to her diligently for these last few years.
Deloris has moved on, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all who loved her.
