Funeral Services for Deborah Lynn Freund, 55, of Needville, TX, are set for 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Needville United Methodist Church, 8602 Church St/Needville, TX 77461, with burial following in Needville Public Cemetery, Needville, TX.


Visitation will be 5 - 7:00 PM Monday, October 16, 2017, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 3103 School Street, Needville, TX 77461.


Serving as Active Pallbearers will be Steve Freund, Dakota Freund, Kenneth Baca, Rex Jones, Chris Sykora, and Scott Sykora. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nicky Adcock, Alvin Parr, and Michael Miller.


She was born Deborah Lynn Baca on February 23, 1962, in Richmond, TX, to Clovis and Jane Baca. She lost her battle with cancer and went to be with our Lord. She died October 12, 2017, in the arms of her husband and soulmate, Steve. She attended Lamar Consolidated and Needville High School, spending much of her life in Needville. She met Steve Freund and they have been together for 21 years. They married on September 26, 1998; they celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary this past month. Debbie loved plants and gardening; she raised a grapefruit tree from a seedling, and it produced several hundred fruits one year. She always had tomato plants in the ground and in flower pots. Fishing was another thing she loved to do. Debbie loved all animals and was involved in pet rescue, helping to find homes for numerous cats and dogs. She even fed the raccoons that came around the house. She wouldn't let any animal go hungry. She raised chickens and bought an incubator to hatch her own eggs; she was hurt when they didn't all survive. Steve is sure she misses their "children" here at home. She also loved her family and Steve's family and all her good friends and Facebook friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.


The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Amirali Popatia for all he did during her treatment and for having such a caring heart. Also, thank you to Arletta Phillips for helping Steve care for Debbie at home until the end!


Deborah was preceded in death by her father, Clovis Baca; step father, Fred Rosenbaum; great aunt, Lottie Gerken; and by her grandparents.


Survivors include her husband, Steve Freund, of Needville, TX; mother, Jane Rosenbaum, of Rosenberg, TX; half brother, Michael Baca; half sister, Gina Veillon; and numerous other relatives.


Memorials may be given in her memory to any charity of choice relating to pet rescue, or to the Needville United Methodist Church -Memorial Fund, 8602 Church St/Needville, TX 77461.
