Cornelius (Neal) Amy was born on September 9, 1926, to Mayshack and Ethel Harris, in Fort Bend County.  She was the fourth child of six born in the Harris Family. She passed away February 27, 2018, in California.

Neal accepted Christ at age 12 and was baptized by the late Rev. W.S. Autry, who was the Pastor of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Rosenberg.  She was a faithful member for many years, but eventually decided to unite with First Baptist Church of Rosenberg, where she worked in many ministries. She attended the weekly Women's Bible Study and worked with VBS each summer preparing and serving food for those who attended.

At an early age Neal married Alvin Amy. From that marriage two daughters were born, Theresa and Cynthia.

Cooking, gardening and sewing were some favorite things Neal enjoyed doing.  She could prepare desserts that would make Julia Child take note because of their exquisite display and tastiness.  She also loved gardening. There were flowers and more flowers everywhere. One year her yard was voted the most beautiful by the local Chamber of Commerce. Although Neal did not graduate high school, she was talented and creative in many ways.

In December 2014, Neal relocated to Los Angeles to be near her daughters, due to her declining health.  She was unable to continue regular activities and was unable to visit her beloved Texas church family and friends.  However, they never left her heart and mind.

Neal leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Theresa Burton ( Fullerton, CA) and Cynthia Castile (Inglewood, CA) one granddaughter, Chamell Burton Hart and husband (Kevin) of Louisville KY, one grandson, Aaron Patrick Castile, of Inglewood, CA, and a host of nieces and nephews in Houston, TX, Richmond, TX, and many friends throughout Texas.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 23, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 1117 First St., Rosenberg, TX 77471.
