Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Wayne Altimore joined his wife Dianna in heaven on May 17, 2024, at the age of 77. His life had not been the same since her passing in 2019. Charlie was born on August 9, 1946, in Sugar Land, TX, to Tony and Mary Altimore.

Charlie was the youngest of two older brothers, Melroy and Lee. He grew up and spent most of his life in Needville, TX, except when he was away serving in the Army during Vietnam. He was a welder and electrician by trade, but could often be found doing odd and end jobs for anyone who needed his help. He was a very caring and helpful person and was always willing to lend a hand. He also had a big heart for animals. He was a simple man who enjoyed gardening and going to pawn shops to see what treasures he could get a good deal on. He always had a purpose for everything he bought, maybe not right away, but he would use it someday. He worked at both the Needville and Tavener gins until he retired.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Mary, his brothers, Melroy and Lee, his sisters-in-law, Gladys and Dee, his niece, Elaine Powers, his in-laws George and Isabel Mach, and his loving wife of thirty four years, Dianna.

Charlie will be dearly missed by his two stepsons, Charles Horton and wife, Jennifer, and Chad Horton and wife, Kim. He was known as Paw Paw Charlie to his four grandchildren, Caitlyn, Charlie, Cody, and Haley Horton. He always had that sweet smile on his face and enjoyed being with his family. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Helen Altimore, his brother-in-law Dennis Mach and wife, Judy, and sister-in-law Donna Starkey and husband, Glenn. He also has many nieces and nephews, Tammy Sangalli and husband, Marc, Linda Altimore, Michael Altimore and wife, Debbie, Leonard Altimore and wife, Beverly, Charlotte Aguilar and husband, Ruben, Wanda Eitemann and husband, John, Eric Mach and wife, Dustie, Rachel Wilson and husband, Ryan, and Jake Starkey and wife, Cindy, along with numerous great nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.

The family wishes to thank Jessi Ruiz for all of her loving help and taking care of Charlie whenever he needed something. She was truly a blessing.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 10 to 11 AM at Immanuel Evangelical Church, 9018 Church St, Needville, TX, with the service following the visitation. Burial will take place at Immanuel Evangelical Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be his step sons, Charles and Chad Horton, grandsons, Charlie and Cody Horton, and his nephews Michael and Leonard Altimore.

Memorials can be made in his memory to Immanuel Evangelical Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 505, Needville, TX  77461.
