Charles Michael
Miculek
Jan 14, 1961 — May 28, 2021
Richmond
Charles was born in Richmond, Texas, on January 14, 1961. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Victor Miculek, and his mother, Theresa Marie Kowis Miculek.
Charles is survived by his sister, Diane (Miculek) Nowak and her husband, Harold Nowak, of Austin, TX, as well as a myriad of extended family, close friends, and his beloved cat, whom he affectionately called Kitty.
In life, prior to retirement, Charles was the Ranch Manager at the Old South Plantation in Richmond, TX.
Charles enjoyed many hobbies with his close friends including flying RC airplanes, drones, and helicopters. He enjoyed tinkering on projects of all sizes and scopes whether it was repairing a weed eater, welding a BBQ pit, or helping his buddy repair his personal aircraft. Having had the mind of an engineer and the ability to conceptualize solutions at a very high level, Charlie was the guy you went to help you solve any problem.
Charles was a master woodworking craftsman. He had an extensive woodworking shop. All the workbenches and cabinetry he made himself. He had the unique ability to see the beauty in a block of wood and create something spectacular. His home contained finely crafted furniture, beautiful inlaid bowls, and other objects he made.
Charles was a true naturalist. He loved riding his bike and experiencing nature all around him. He enjoyed visiting, hiking, and biking in our surrounding state parks. Charles could tell you about any tree, plant, animal, insect, and what the weather would be like in 2 months from now with precise accuracy.
Although Charlie was never one to brag about his skills and expertise, it should also be noted that Charles was an expert marksman and shootist.
Most recently, Charles developed a passion for cooking with his best friend. Especially beans! He was bound and determined to make the very best pot of kidney beans and Texas Chili. Charlie was not one to try a lot of new things, but he had developed a fondness for improving some good old Texas recipes. It wasn't always easy to tell if Charlie liked something he was given to eat, but if he responded, "It'll eat!" you knew you were on the right track.
Charlie liked to catch a good matinee action or war movie, discuss current events and debate politics. Charlie had a deep appreciation for our Lord Jesus Christ and would frequently read the Bible and quote scripture.
Charlie had a real fondness and respect for animals, especially those that had been discarded and uncared for like his beloved cat, Kitty, and Bella, the pocket beagle.
Finally, Charlie was a quiet man who lived a quiet and simple life. He did not need much and wasn't concerned about the Jones'. To those who knew him well and loved him, he had a larger than life personality, he was a loyal friend, a kind and gentle soul, the go-to guy that could fix anything and everything, a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, the giver of sound advice, and someone that could be fiercely depended upon. He gave of himself with his whole heart and never asked for anything in return. Charlie was the kind of man who lived in a world where one's word was still the measure of a man's true character. For those that loved Charles, he will be forever missed, never forgotten and will live on in our hearts and memories for all time.
