Carolyn Donham's Obituary
Carolyn Donham 79, went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Carolyn was born in Hillsboro, Kansas on November 7, 1936 to the late Clarence and Edna Pauls. She married Robert (Bob) Donham on July 9, 1959, and just celebrated 57 years of marriage. She is also survived by her sons; Robert Kyle and Stefanie Donham, Paul Davis and Becky Donham. Grandchildren, Lily Donham, Luke Donham, Madison Donham and Emilee Donham. Sister Joyce Miller of Bellville, Texas and sister-in-law Reba McNally of Missouri, City Texas along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Carolyn began her career as a secretary working at the Shamrock Hilton Hotel in downtown Houston, an automobile dealership, and then Etta May's Dress Shop. She then found her true calling as a teacher's aide at Jane Long Elementary School in Richmond, Texas where she spent over 15 wonderful years making life long friends and sharing her creativity, passion, patience and love with the many children she came across.
Carolyn had a green thumb and loved to work with her hanging baskets and potted plants and grew the most beautiful hibiscus flowers that she was so proud of. She spent many,many weeks camping out with her family on the Frio River at Concan,Texas. She spent many hours riding shotgun in Bob's golf cart and loved to travel with him when she was able. She also enjoyed many bed and breakfast trips in the Hill Country, along with several golfing outings with friends.
Carolyn never met a stranger, had the biggest heart, and with a witty sense of humor - she lived life to the fullest.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church, 4111 Airport Avenue, Rosenberg, Texas 77471. A Reception will follow the service at Calvary Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 570127, Houston, TX 77257-0127.
