Carolyn is the daughter of Rev. Alvis M. and Evelyn Merritt Bell. She was born in Ft. Worth, TX, on May 27, 1953, and she went Home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2015, after a brief battle with cancer.
Carolyn was reared in Bellville, TX, where she attended first through twelfth grades and graduated from Bellville High School. She was a graduate of Baylor University with a degree in English and Education.
As the daughter of a Baptist preacher, Carolyn grew up being in church every time the door were open. She trusted Jesus as her Savior as a young girl during a Wednesday night revival service. She has been an active member in several churches throughout her life. She recently moved her church membership to the First Baptist Church of Rosenberg, where her parents are members. Carolyn loved Jesus. She loved talking about Him and singing about Him, and her face reflected the true joy she felt in Jesus.
In addition to singing about her Savior, Carolyn loved playing the piano. She also loved to play table games and often beat family members in late night games of Uno or Phase 10. One of her favorite phrases was "Skip Paul". Carolyn got great joy out of preparing and cooking large family meals. She dearly loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She took great delight in preparing elaborate treasure maps and scavenger hunts for their Christmas presents.
Carolyn was an elementary school teacher for almost 40 years. The places she has taught include East Bernard, Lexington, and Pearland, TX; Terrell Christian Academy in Terrell, TX; Bay Area Christian Academy in League City, TX; and most recently Fort Bend Christian Academy in Sugar Land, TX, where she received a certificate for 15 years of service this past May.
Carolyn loved teaching and invested her life fully in the lives of her students. Many people across the state of Texas have had the privilege to be called one of Miss Bell's kids.
Carolyn is survived by her parents, Rev. Alvis M. and Evelyn Bell; her brothers, Steve and his wife Donna, and Paul and his wife Sherri; nieces and nephews, Bethany Bell, Cody Bell, Melissa Campbell and husband Ryan, and Jered Bell and wife, Katie; aunts, Margaret Bell and Janita Kelly; uncles Ray Merritt and Robert Bell and wife Jean; cousins Kara, Kathleen, Suzanne, Jan, Jeff, and Vick; and numerous friends who were as dear as family to her.
Memorials may be given in her memory to First Baptist Church, 1117 First Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471.
