Brenda Myska
Dresner
Dec 29, 1950 — Oct 30, 2024
Rosenberg
Brenda Myska Dresner, 73, of Rosenberg, TX joined her Savior in heaven on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, with her loving husband Glenn by her side.
Brenda was born in Rosenberg on December 29th, 1950, to Eugene (Gene) and Dorothy Warncke Myska. She is survived by her husband and soulmate of 48 years, Glenn Dresner; son Dustin Dresner and wife Erin; daughter Lindsey Duke and husband Aaron; and four beloved grandchildren, Reid Duke, Hayes Duke, Wylie Dresner and Lydia Dresner. She also leaves her sister Nancy Robeson (Johnnie), brother Glen Myska (Nancy), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and brother-in-law Barry Dresner.
Being the oldest child in her family, Brenda's father taught her many skills in self-reliance and leadership that carried on throughout her life. She often shared fond memories of learning to fish and tie her own knots, driving tractors, and learning to surf.
Brenda graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School in 1969. She was a star volleyball player and led her team to the school's very first state championship as a sophomore. During high school, Brenda enjoyed working at the Cole Theater where she was entrusted with many responsibilities.
Brenda went on to attend Sam Houston State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education, followed by a Master of Arts in Administration. Brenda's great legacy includes the many lives she touched as a lifelong educator. Her first teaching position in Beasley, TX led her to the very same classroom her father Gene once attended. She then worked for Lamar Consolidated Independent School district for 31 years, retiring in 2004 as Assistant Principal of Williams Elementary. Brenda was passionate about sixth grade education, advocating for dedicated sixth grade campuses and serving on the task force that implemented this recommendation. Brenda loved everything about these special students and all the challenges this age brings, lovingly referring to them as "Reeboks and hormones".
Retirement brought many memorable experiences, including multiple trips to Hawaii. Brenda also traveled to the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, NM and Gunnison, CO, where she had the incredible opportunity to serve on the balloon team.
During this time, Brenda and Glenn worked together to earn the distinguished title of Texas Master Gardener. She especially loved volunteering at the Master Gardener plant sales as cashier, where she had one last opportunity to express gratitude to customers.
Brenda was an Aggie in every sense of the word, despite not having the opportunity to attend Texas A&M - at the time she entered college, women were still not accepted as students! "If you can't be an Aggie, then marry one" was a favorite motto. Brenda even received her very own Aggie Sweetheart ring, which Glenn lovingly tied to the Christmas tree. For the past 14 years, Brenda and Glenn have volunteered to present students with their "Gift of a Lifetime" on Aggie Ring Day. Brenda always added her special touch by preparing tissues for tears of joy, lotion to help with a tight ring, and "cheater" eyeglasses to help students read their names finely engraved on their ring. In 2015, Brenda and Glenn established an Endowed Aggie Ring Scholarship that generously gifts Aggie rings to students.
Brenda loved to cook and was known for her Aggie Bayou Brownies, which she enthusiastically gifted to just about everyone. In true Brenda fashion, she had the wisdom to include the recipe along with gloves to protect hands while mixing in the red velvet cake batter. She shared her love of cooking with her children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews by creating children's cookbooks, designing gingerbread houses, and always making sure to bring fun food crafts for the children to make at family gatherings.
Family was of the utmost importance to Brenda.Gatherings were frequent and included activities everyone could enjoy together, such as picking and shucking corn, making pickles, enjoying a fish fry, or taking her children, nieces and nephews to Matagorda for crabbing. She worked closely with Santa Claus to ensure every child she loved received a letter from the North Pole, and secretly gifted the children in her life with fun magazine subscriptions. Brenda was an honorary mom to many members of daughter Lindsey's dance team, earning her the loving title "Momma Drez". Momma Drez loved hosting dance team Thanksgiving and supporting her girls in every way possible. Most importantly, Brenda was a terrific Momma to Dustin and Lindsey, and the absolute best BeBe to Reid, Hayes, Wylie and Lydia.
Everyone who met Brenda was a much better person for meeting her. Brenda will be dearly missed by all her family and friends, but we must all find our own peace that she is in heaven with her eternal Father and is walking, jumping and running as she waits for us to be with her again.
Brenda's Celebration of Life is set for 10 AM Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at First Methodist Church of Rosenberg, 1127 Third St, Rosenberg, TX 77471, with burial following in Davis Greenlawn Cemetery, Rosenberg, TX.
