On December 12, 2013, Betty Lou Pratt went to be with her Lord after a valiant and lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's. Because of her life dedicated to Christ together with a sweet sense of humor, everyone who came into contact with Betty will miss her greatly.
Betty was born on October 13, 1926 in Cushing, Oklahoma. After high school, she received a degree from Arkansas City Junior College, where she met her future husband Ned Pratt. Their adventures after marriage took them from being employed as butler and maid to the President of the University of Oklahoma (while Ned earned his degree) to the Canadian wilderness to the bayous of south Louisiana. Along the way, she was a devoted wife and mother, a gifted artist, a church secretary, pastor's wife, and independent business woman.
Her family wishes to send their deepest appreciation to all who have loved and cared for her. There are far too many individuals to name, but you know who you are. To the wonderful staff at Lampstand Rehab of Bryan, the love, dignity and encouragement towards her meant so much. She truly loved each and every one of you. Many thanks also extend to her friends at Millican House, the St. Joseph Hospital Stroke Ward, the tender hands of Hospice Compassionate Care, and Blinn College of Nursing. Dr. Selvakumarraj provided tremendous support and comfort as well.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, R. Ned Pratt, her mother and father, Virgie and John, sister Margaret, and brothers Bob and John.
Survivors include her children: Marie (and Carl) Richard of Bryan, Ben (and Phyllis) Pratt of Schertz and Daniel (and Lisa Pratt) of Richmond; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Betty will be honored at a private service of family and friends, conducted by Garmany & Carden Funeral Home of Rosenberg on Monday, December 16.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Mission Dignity (www.missiondignitysbc.org) or any local hospice organization of your choice.
Condolence messages may be written for the Pratt family at www.garmanycarden.com.
